Hornby
Hobbies Ltd will unveil the new Scalextric Sport Digital System at
the London Toy Fair this month.
Scalextric Sport Digital represents a great leap forward in slot-car
racing technology, allowing up to six cars to race on a single Scalextric
lane with real overtaking possible at the touch of a button.
Sport Digital will also offer much more: the new digital hand throttles
will have a button-braking function which when allied to the smooth
control that digital power brings gives unparalleled response. There
are also 9 different modes of racing to choose from, including Formula
One, rally, pursuit and arcade.
Sport Digital is compatible with existing Scalextric Sport track.
Simply add the Sport Digital power control unit and hand throttles
plus the special lane change track pieces to an existing layout to
make it Sport Digital.
Six Sport Digital cars fitted with micro processing chips will be
available at the launch of the range but it will also be possible
to add chips to all cars from the last 2 years and all future releases
will be easily updated with the simple insertion of a chip.
The Sport Digital System will be offered to the market in 2 different
formats:
The Sport Digital Race Ready Set
The set contains everything you need for digital racing: track, Digital
Control unit, 2 Digital cars & 2 enhanced digital hand throttles and
one lane change track piece.
The control unit has a blue LCD screen from which all set up functions
are controlled and which acts as a scoreboard posting race positions
and fastest lap data once racing commences.
Sport Digital Pro
The best way to convert your existing layout to Sport Digital Connects
to a PC for enhanced race management functions as well as 3D circuit
design, performance testing & tuning. Sport Digital Pro pack contains:
Command Unit, Connector Track, 2 hand throttles, Software CD ROM,
Power unit, 2 Changeover tracks. A range of 6 Sport Digital cars available
separately. Additional hand throttles and changeover tracks also available
separately
Both formats along with the full range of cars, lane change track
pieces and hand throttles will be available in shops in 4th quarter
2004.
