Scalextric Sports World

Scalextric released their much anticipated Sports World product just before Christmas. This product has been in development for the last couple of years (with a tad of help from me as one of the beta testers) and boasts a wealth of features. I started to write an article but after reading the review from fellow beta testers Dave Cheng and Doug Teggin on Slot Forum I realised mine was a pale comparison.

So with their extremely kind permission they allowed me to link their review in to my tips section. This is an excellent review that is extremely balanced. I concur with their conclusion - there is so much within the product it is difficult to sum up with one recommendation. Whether you want to race others via the internet (a virtual physical world combination), be able to use any of your cars as a pace car, review race telemetry, configure your throttles to your personal response profile, add race strategies, review complete race statistics, race arcade style etc, etc. there is basically something for everyone. I would buy it just for the pacer and it enhancements to standard racing that it provides.

Anyway enough of me - click below to be thoroughly engrossed.

Also (again thanks to Slot Forum) a really interesting link was provided to the BBC which shows the production of a Scalextric car. Note the straight digital cross-over in the first picture and the huge manpower involved in producing the cars we drool over.
