What Will 2006 Bring?

Scalextric, as I predicted, are going to produce the sure fire seller the Aston Martin DBR9 which is due in May 2006.

New cars for F1 enthusiasts both current and vintage - the BAR Honda is one that has been missing from the starting grids for too long and should be with us in October. Also two new classic F1 will be released as a limited edition twin pack in the September Goodwood Revival meeting. The cars are rumoured to be the Ferrari 312 + McLaren M23 of Lauda and Hunt and will not be available separately.

In October there will be updated 2006 liveries for the Renault, Williams and Ferrari. Scalextric have also secured the rights to produce the A1 grand prix cars - a good coup especially as this series gains popularity - the first four produced will represent the UK, France, Netherlands and Brazil and are due for release in digital format in July with the standard edition awaiting release date confirmation.

The biggest area of new cars is the endurance series. A whole range from the Japanese GT series including the race liveried version of the Nissan 350Z (due in June) and two new cars the Honda NSX (due January!) and Toyota Supra (due March) - these will make interesting comparisons with the Ninco versions. Along with these we will be getting the Nissan Skyline which is due in February.

Also from the endurance world we will be getting the Jaguar Trans Am in November which will make a good partner to the Viper.

One announcement that will be extremely popular is that of the Ford Escort mk1 - the start of a classic rally series? Finally, in terms of new cars, we will see in September the Seat Leon from the world of touring cars.

Finally Scalextric will not be releasing their cars as Sport versions first - this line will de dropped with the Ferrari 330 P4 being the last. Get them while you can as their collector value will only rise because of this.
