Before
the year is out we shall see...
(Buying tips for Christmas)
There are still a number of new models that have yet to make it to our fair shores but are expected before the Big Ben strikes the New Year in. So what do we expect?
SCX should be delivering their homage to
a rally classic in the guise of the Fiat 124 Spyder
- pictures have been spied in Spain so it should
be with us before we reach 2006.
We should see the first of the Slot-It Sauber-Mercedes
C9 and hopefully even the Jaguar XJR9.
Scalextric should be bring us their much
anticipated Ferrari 330 P3s although don't expect
their Nissan Skylines until 2006. SportsWorld should
be with us before Chrimbo and will add a new dimension
to your racing - what a tease eh! Also to come are
the spectacular Mercedes SLR McLaren as well as
the digital turn/pitlane and the new range of plastic
buildings.
Ninco should bring us a new model - the Megane
Trophy show car, as well as a Supra and NSX "Tuning
Style" and the 934 "Kremer" in ProRace configuration.
Spirit might get their Renault 5 to us and
if it is anything as good as the Peugeot 205 T16
then this will be one to have.
Fly will bring us the last of their proposed
new 2005 models the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAj
Team Slot might get their Audi Quattro A1
although I think this will be an early 2006 release,
likewise I believe Revell and AutoArt
will get their respective Lotus Cortina and 2004
Ford Shelby Cobra concept car to us in early 2006.

2006 Predictions
OK the main question is who is going to produce
the Aston Martin DBR9 - I bet Scalextric have been
trying to get the exclusive rights for the production
of this sure fire seller but I think they won't
get exclusivity. As such I expect this model to
be released not only by Scalextric but also by SCX,
Carrera and maybe even Ninco.
Got to have a top ten...
I thought I'd share with you my list of my 2005
favourite slot products in reverse order (got to
get the tension mounting!):
10) Ninco Honda NSX - great performance with
beautiful handling and mean looks to boot
 |
9) Scalextric Peugeot 307 - a great innovation
with the motor up front and driving the front wheels
- makes a great handling car and I hope Scalextric
ensure all their future rally cars are in this configuration
8) Fly Renault 5 - a superb looking car that
handles pretty fine - in my top 10 on its looks
though
7) Slot-It spares - like last year not a
2005 new product although they've released some
new spares (angle-winder and off-set gear, Teflon
coated crowns, etc.) so I can justify it. Basically
Slot-It spares are an essential part of my tool
box and deserve all the accolades they get.
6) Racer Ferrari 250LM - an indulgence but
it is just stunning and a joy to drive when you
are on your own and want to treat yourself
 |
5) Ninco Mitsubishi WRC- a class winner that
sticks to the track like glue (without a magnet)
4) Spirit Peugeot 205 T16 - what a cracking
car - great for those twisty bumpy purpose built
rally tracks as well as a demon on the smoother
faster tracks
3) Scalextric Ferrari Sharknose - Scaly have
surpassed themselves yet again - the details of
the suspension are second to none and the car is
a joy to drove
2) Slot-it Nissan R390 GT1 - stunning out
of the box handling and performance and a car that
keeps on getting an awful lot of track time
and...
1) Scalextric Digital - my son and I have
loads of fun with our digital track which is what
this hobby is all about. We need more digital ready
to go cars although chipping them yourself is pretty
simple.
